Your Galaxy phone's Messaging app is the quickest way to keep in touch. You can share photos, videos, or just send a quick hello. Your message settings can also be customized if you'd like to change the font size or the types of messages you receive.

Note: Available screen and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version. On Verizon phones, the default messaging app is Message+. Available screens and settings will differ from what is displayed below.

Let's break down the two types of messages in the Samsung Messages app, so you understand what they mean.

Text Messages (SMS):The Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive text messages to and from other phones or email addresses. To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider's message service.

MMS message

Multimedia Messages (MMS):The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) lets you send and receive multimedia messages (such as picture, video, and audio messages) to and from other phones or email addresses. To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider's multimedia message service.

Note: Messaging icons are displayed at the top of the screen and indicate when messages are received.

From Messages, tapCompose, and then select the desired recipient(s). Type your message and tap Send (the arrow).

Note: If you exit a message before you send it, the message is automatically saved as a draft.

You've got messages - make sure you remember to reply! You have a couple ways to view new messages.

To view messages from the Notification panel, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap theNew message notification.
To view new messages from the Messages app, simply open the app and tap the conversation with the new message.
To play a multimedia message attachment (audio or video), tapPlay.

If you've got old messages hanging around clogging up your inbox, delete 'em. Your phone's storage will thank you.

From Messages, tap the Conversations tab. Touch and hold the message you want to delete. Tap Delete, and then select the message(s) you want to remove. Then, tap Delete at the bottom, and tap Move to Trash to confirm.

If you need to recover your deleted messages, you can find them by tapping More options (the three vertical dots) in Messages, and then tapping Trash. Touch and hold the message you'd like to recover, and then tap Restore.

Note: Deleted messages will be stored in Trash for 30 days before being permanently deleted.

You spend a lot of time in your inbox, so make it feel like home. You can customize font size, backgrounds, callback number, and more using mailbox settings.

From Messages, tapMore options (the three vertical dots). TapSettings, and then adjust the desired settings.
